Wood-Fired Hot Tub
A handcrafted tub — perfect for stargazing, post-swim recovery, and long Devon evenings.
£100 Surcharge
The hot tub surcharge covers wood supply (25–30 logs), filling, and cleaning for one session. Additional sessions are approximately £30. Please note at checkout if you would like to use the hot tub.
How to Use
- 1
The hot tub will be pre-filled and ready to heat.
- 2
Water level: 10–15cm above the second pipe to the fire.
- 3
Never light the fire if the water level if below one of the pipes.
- 4
Heat time: 3–6 hours depending on the season. Patience is rewarded.
- 5
Keep the lid on during heating — it is critical to heat retention.
- 6
Never empty the tub while the fire is on or still hot.
Good to Know
The Lid
Insulated and critical. Handle the velcro seam carefully. Replace ensuring all edges are in position. Do not let children play with it.
Clothing
Please take off jewellery and wear costumes without any zippers or metal fastenings. These can damage the tub.
Chemicals
Not needed for short stays — water is always filled fresh. For longer stays, we will add a bromine tablet and holder.
Limescale
White residue on the surface is completely normal. Its limescale from minerals in the water — nothing to worry about.
Overnight
Add a few logs late at night, put the lid on, and the water will still be warm in the morning.
Cleaning
Soft cloths only — no scouring pads, as they will scratch the surface.
“No jets, no chemicals — just a wood fire, amazing water, and Devon stars overhead.”
Perfect for hot-cold plunges with the organic pond
The Ritual
The Perfect Hot Tub Day
A tried and tested sequence for getting the most out of an evening under the Devon sky.
Midday
Light the fire
Get the fire going around midday and give it a good top-up of logs. The longer it has, the hotter the water — patience pays off in the evening.
Afternoon
Hit the cliffs
Head out on a walk along the South West Coast Path. The views from the cliffs above Branscombe are spectacular. Stop in at the Mason's Arms on the way back — a pint of local ale is well earned.
On your return
Stoke the fire
Add another few logs when you get back. The water should be getting warm — the lid will have been doing its job while you were out.
Evening
It's ready
Once the tub is up to temperature, ease in and let the heat do its work. The hard part is over.
If it's winter
Go cold first
Brave the organic pond before the hot tub — the cold shock is bracing but worth it. Then recover in the heat, and keep repeating. It's addictive.
Late into the night
Stars, wine, and time
Hope for clear skies, open a bottle, and stay until you lose track of time. Interspersed with cold dips to keep things honest. There's nowhere better to be.
